The life-sized R2-D2 model of Lego Star Wars makes a stunning debut. This model is meticulously constructed from over 27,000 Lego bricks and will be showcased in offline activities this year. This breathtaking Lego R2-D2 is part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Star Wars series. Videos circulating online show the entire process of building this iconic robot brick by brick from scratch. The celebration also includes special short film screenings and some brand-new Lego sets equipped with unique minifigures. This giant R2-D2 model is made up of 27,797 Lego pieces and vividly reproduces the classic scene of this robot extending its third leg and rolling forward. The model also has built-in electronic components for controlling lighting effects and the rotation of the dome on top. This is similar in production technology to the previous large Bowser model, only on a smaller scale. The video reveals that the Lego Group has made at least three such models, which means that during the celebration, whether in the United States or Europe, there will be opportunities to admire up close this cosmic robot constructed of Lego bricks. The Spielwarenmesse event held in Germany this year is the occasion for the R2-D2 model’s first public display, but it will definitely not be the only one. This model is planned to tour multiple locations in the United States and Europe in 2024. The specific exhibition locations and dates are yet to be determined. As the core of Lego Star Wars’ 25th anniversary celebration, R2-D2 not only becomes the focus of the event’s new logo but also a brand-new Lego set – 75379 R2-D2 will be launched, bringing more surprises to fans.
